This class is a one-day workshop to learn professional sewing techniques to make a basic swimsuit. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a break for lunch. Bring a lunch!
This is an intermediate level course. Students need to know how to use their serger, and can assemble a garment without sewing lessons. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MACHINE AND MANUAL.
Course content covered:
- Cutting techniques for stretch fabric
- Assembly techniques using a seger or overlock machine (bring your own or use one of ours)
- Elastic techniques using an elastic foot
- Finishing professionally with coverstitch
Fabric, thread, elastic, and mulit-size patterns are available to purchase on site or you can bring your own stretch fabric to work with.
The average swimsuit can be made with 1m of fabric. Purchase 1m of lining, 5 meters of elastic 1/4" wide.
You can also purchase one of our Swimsuit Kits, which include pre-printed Chloroban, Liner, and elastic.
